The short answer

Mike and the Mechanics Harrogate fans are in for a treat, as Mike + The Mechanics open their Back on Track! 2027 tour at Harrogate Convention Centre on Saturday 8 May 2027, at 7.30pm. The easiest way to plan the night is to stay in central Harrogate, within a short walk of Kings Road, so you can enjoy dinner, the concert and a gentle stroll back to bed. A serviced apartment or townhouse turns the gig into a relaxed weekend for couples and groups of friends.

Mike and the Mechanics Harrogate: the essentials

Harrogate is the very first night of the tour, which then visits venues across the UK, including Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as Europe. Expect classics such as Over My Shoulder, The Living Years and All I Need Is A Miracle, plus a selection of Genesis hits. Being at the opening night of a tour always has a special buzz, and it makes a great reason for a spring weekend away.

  • Date – Saturday 8 May 2027, 7.30pm
  • Venue – Harrogate Convention Centre, Kings Road, HG1 5LA
  • Age guidance – recommended for ages 14 and over; under-16s must be accompanied by an adult

Tickets

Ticketing for the Harrogate date is handled by Harrogate Theatre, which lists seats from £55 to £150. You can book on the Harrogate Theatre website or call the box office on 01423 502116, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm. For wheelchair and companion seats, phoning the box office is the simplest way to book. Payments inside the venue are by card and contactless, so you can leave the cash at home.

Getting there

  • By train – Harrogate station is about a seven-minute walk from the Convention Centre. LNER runs four direct trains a day from London King's Cross, taking around 2 hours 46 minutes. Our guide to arriving by train helps you settle in quickly.
  • By air – Leeds Bradford Airport is about 12 miles away, roughly 20 minutes by car, and the A2 bus runs hourly in about 31 minutes.
  • By car – use HG1 2HR for the Convention Centre car park. If you are staying in town, you can leave the car at your accommodation and walk.

Dinner before the show

With a 7.30pm start, an early dinner in town is the perfect warm-up. There are lots of restaurants within a few minutes' walk of Kings Road, and booking a table is a good idea on a Saturday evening in May. Our guide to where to eat in Harrogate has our favourites, and the perfect pub in Harrogate is ideal for a pre-show drink. The venue also serves refreshments, so you can grab a drink when you arrive.

Where to stay

Staying the night means you can enjoy every song of the encore and simply walk home afterwards. Our homes across central Harrogate are within walking distance of the Convention Centre and suit couples, friends and families, with proper kitchens and comfortable living rooms. Our Convention Centre accommodation guide compares the best areas near the venue, and our guide to choosing the right neighbourhood goes into more detail. Booking early gives you the widest choice for a popular Saturday.

The morning after

There is no need to rush off on Sunday. Start with a slow breakfast in your own kitchen or a coffee in town, then take a walk through Valley Gardens, which is lovely in May. If you want to unwind properly, the Turkish Baths are a classic Harrogate treat. For more ideas, see our considered weekend itinerary.
