Shop Terms and Conditions
Please review our Shop Terms & Conditions for important information about artwork purchases, orders, payments, delivery, cancellations, returns and refunds through the Short Stay Harrogate online shop.
Last updated: September 2026
Get Started1. About these terms
These terms apply whenever you purchase artwork or any other product through the Short Stay Harrogate online shop at www.shortstayharrogate.co.uk.
Please read these terms carefully before placing an order. By placing an order, you confirm that you accept them.
The shop is operated by Short Stay Harrogate Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12437023. Our registered office is at 12 Station Parade, Harrogate, England, HG1 1UE.
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Short Stay Harrogate Ltd. “You” and “your” refer to the person purchasing a product from us.
2. Our products
Our shop offers fine-art prints created from original artwork by independent artists, including Joanne Knowles.
The available sizes, framing options, materials, prices and estimated lead times are shown on the relevant product page.
We have made every reasonable effort to display product colours and images accurately. However, colours may appear differently on different screens, and the finished print may vary slightly from the images displayed online.
Where a product is described as framed, the frame, mount and other specifications will be as described on the relevant product page. Room images and lifestyle photographs are for illustrative purposes only and may not represent the exact scale of the artwork.
All dimensions are approximate.
3. Supporting Martin House Children’s Hospice
Short Stay Harrogate donates 33% of the purchase price of every artwork sold through the shop to Martin House Children’s Hospice.
This contribution is made from Short Stay Harrogate’s agreed share of each sale. The remaining amount is retained by or paid to the artist and relevant suppliers in connection with producing, framing, packaging, processing and delivering the artwork.
Martin House Children’s Hospice does not sell or supply the products and is not responsible for fulfilling orders, arranging delivery, processing returns or dealing with product-related enquiries.
Your purchase contract is with Short Stay Harrogate Ltd and not with Martin House Children’s Hospice.
4. Placing an order
You may place an order by selecting the artwork, size, framing option and quantity required and completing the online checkout process.
Please check all order details carefully before submitting your order. You are responsible for ensuring that your delivery address and contact information are complete and accurate.
After placing an order, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt. This acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that we have accepted your order.
A binding contract is formed when we send confirmation that your order has been accepted or when the product is dispatched, whichever occurs first.
We may decline or cancel an order if the product is unavailable, we cannot obtain authorisation for payment, there is an obvious error in the price or product description, we cannot deliver to the address provided, or we reasonably suspect fraud, misuse or unauthorised activity.
If payment has already been taken for an order we cannot accept, we will refund the amount paid.
5. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include any applicable UK taxes unless stated otherwise.
Standard UK delivery is included in the product price where the website states “Free UK Delivery”.
The total amount payable will be displayed before you complete your order.
Payment must be made using one of the payment methods available at checkout. Payment will normally be taken when the order is placed.
If we discover an obvious pricing error, we may contact you and give you the choice of confirming the order at the correct price or cancelling it for a full refund.
6. Made-to-order products
Our fine-art prints and framed artwork may be prepared after an order is received.
The fact that a product is made to order does not affect your statutory cancellation rights unless it has been personalised or made to specifications chosen by you beyond the standard options offered on our website.
Selecting a standard print size or one of our standard framing options will not, by itself, make the product personalised.
7. Preparation and delivery
Unless a different lead time is shown on the relevant product page, unframed prints will normally be dispatched within five working days and framed prints will normally be dispatched within ten working days.
These are estimated dispatch times and not guaranteed delivery dates.
Products will be delivered to the address supplied during checkout. We currently deliver only to UK addresses accepted by our checkout system.
We will notify you if your order is materially delayed. Unless a different period has been agreed with you, we will deliver your order within 30 days of accepting it.
We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control. However, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and take appropriate steps to minimise the delay.
Responsibility for the product passes to you when it is delivered to the address you provided. Ownership of the product passes to you once we have received payment in full.
8. Your right to cancel
If you are purchasing as a consumer, you normally have the right to cancel your order without giving a reason.
The cancellation period expires 14 days after the day on which you, or a person nominated by you other than the carrier, receives the product.
If an order contains several products delivered separately, the cancellation period expires 14 days after the final product is received.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us clearly of your decision before the cancellation period expires. You may contact us by email or use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms.
This right does not apply to products that have been made to your personal specifications or clearly personalised. It also does not apply in any other circumstances where the right to cancel is excluded by law.
This section does not affect your rights where a product is faulty, damaged, misdescribed or otherwise not of satisfactory quality.
9. Returning a cancelled order
If you cancel after receiving the product, you must return it within 14 days of telling us that you wish to cancel.
Please contact us before returning anything so that we can provide the correct returns address and instructions. Products should not be returned to our registered office unless we expressly tell you to do so.
You are responsible for the direct cost of returning a product when you cancel because you have changed your mind.
You must keep the product in its original condition and take proper care of it while it is in your possession. Artwork must be returned unused, undamaged and securely packed in its original protective packaging. You are responsible for ensuring that the product is adequately protected during return transit.
We may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value resulting from damage, deterioration, improper handling or inadequate packaging beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the product.
Because prints and frames can be easily damaged in transit, you must use an appropriately insured and trackable delivery service. You remain responsible for the returned product until it reaches the specified return address.
10. Refunds following cancellation
IIf you cancel your entire order within the applicable cancellation period, we will refund the price paid for the returned product together with the cost of standard delivery where you paid a separate delivery charge.
We are not required to refund additional delivery costs arising because you selected a delivery method more expensive than our least expensive standard option.
We will make the refund within 14 days after receiving the returned product or, if earlier, within 14 days after you provide satisfactory evidence that it has been returned.
We may withhold the refund until we receive the returned product or you provide satisfactory evidence that it has been sent back, whichever occurs first.
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
11. Damaged, faulty or incorrect products
We have a legal duty to supply products that conform to the contract, are as described, are of satisfactory quality and are fit for their usual purpose.
Please inspect your order promptly after delivery. If it arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
When contacting us, please provide your name, order number, a description of the problem and clear photographs showing the product and the issue. Where transit damage has occurred, we may also ask for photographs of the external and internal packaging.
Where a product is faulty, damaged, misdescribed or incorrect, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights. Depending on the circumstances, this may include a replacement, repair, price reduction or refund.
We will cover reasonable return costs where a product is confirmed to be faulty, damaged, misdescribed or incorrectly supplied.
Nothing in these terms limits or affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
12. Intellectual property
All artwork, product images, written descriptions, branding and other content displayed through the shop are protected by intellectual-property laws.
Purchasing a print gives you ownership of that physical copy only. It does not transfer copyright or any other intellectual-property rights in the underlying artwork.
You must not reproduce, scan, copy, distribute, commercially exploit or create derivative products from the artwork without the prior written permission of the relevant rights holder.
13. Personal information
We will use your personal information to process your order, arrange delivery, communicate with you and manage returns or refunds.
Further information about how we collect and use personal information is available in our Privacy Policy.

14. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for losses you suffer which are a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was formed.
Products sold through the shop are supplied for private and domestic use. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, we are not responsible for business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or anticipated savings.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
15. Events outside our control
We will not be responsible for a delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Such circumstances may include postal or courier disruption, severe weather, fire, flood, industrial action, transport disruption, supplier failure or interruption to essential systems.
If a delay is likely to be substantial, we will contact you. You may have the right to cancel the affected order and receive a refund for products that have not been supplied.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. The terms that apply to an order will be those available on the website when the order is placed.
Any change will not affect an order that we have already accepted unless the change is required by law or agreed with you.
17. If part of these terms is invalid
If a court or relevant authority decides that any part of these terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any contract formed under them are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you live in England or Wales, the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.
