Harrogate Symphony Orchestra Winter Concert
Harrogate Symphony Orchestra's winter concert at the Royal Hall on Saturday 14 November 2026, 7.30pm, with Verdi, Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3 (soloist William Green) and Brahms's Fourth Symphony.
What the concert is
Harrogate Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is an amateur orchestra whose history goes back to 1931, and it gives most of its main concerts in the Royal Hall. Its November programme is one of the fixtures of its season. This year it opens with Verdi's overture to La Forza del Destino. The orchestra is then joined by pianist William Green for Bartok's Piano Concerto No. 3, and the evening closes with Brahms's Symphony No. 4 in E minor. The audience is a mix of regular concert-goers and people coming to HSO for the first time.
Date, time and tickets
The concert is on Saturday 14 November 2026 and starts at 7.30pm. Harrogate Theatre lists the running time as 135 minutes. HSO says its concerts usually finish between 9.30pm and 10pm. Tickets are sold by Harrogate Theatre at prices from £18 to £60. You can book on the theatre's website, by phone on 01423 502116, or in person at the box office on Cambridge Street. The box office is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. The Royal Hall and Harrogate Convention Centre take card and contactless payments only.
For visitors
The concert is open to the public and suitable for all ages. Harrogate Theatre asks that under 16s are accompanied by an adult. On its own site, HSO says children aged 14 and under with a paying adult receive free tickets for its regular winter, spring and summer concerts. As the two organisations word this differently, check with the box office when you book. Recording is not permitted. For wheelchair and companion bookings, call the box office directly. Harrogate Theatre's page also lists captioned, relaxed, audio-described and BSL-interpreted icons, so ask about access when booking.
Getting there
Harrogate station is about a 10-minute walk from the Convention Centre. LNER runs direct trains to London King's Cross roughly hourly, and Leeds is about 35 minutes away by train. Leeds Bradford Airport is about 30 minutes by taxi. If you are driving, the Convention Centre lists more than 1,200 parking spaces in the centre of town. Many of our apartments and townhouses are a short walk from the Royal Hall, so you can leave the car behind after you arrive.
Booking early
Saturday evenings in November can be busy in Harrogate, and the Royal Hall is a popular venue. Tickets and accommodation both go quicker than people expect, so it is worth sorting both once you have chosen your seats. A serviced apartment suits a couple or a group of friends who want space to get ready, and a townhouse works for a larger party or a family weekend.
After the concert
With a 7.30pm start, you may want dinner beforehand and a drink afterwards. Harrogate has plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the Royal Hall. If you are staying the night, Sunday morning is a good time for the Turkish Baths, a stroll through the Valley Gardens, or a late breakfast. Staying with us gives you a kitchen and your own front door, so there is no rush to get home after a late finish.
