What it is and who goes

Hand Made Man is a touring live talk by Patrick Grant, the tailor and designer who has judged The Great British Sewing Bee since 2013. He draws on his time in the Sewing Bee workroom and on Savile Row. He also argues that our relationship with clothing has gone wrong, and that value should not be measured by price alone. The audience gets to put its own questions to him. It suits fans of the programme, sewers and makers, and anyone interested in how clothes are made and why we throw so many away.

Dates and opening times

The Harrogate performance is on Monday 22 March 2027 in the Royal Hall, with a 7.30pm start. No separate doors time has been published. Other venues on the tour list a running time of 1 hour 50 minutes including a 20-minute interval, so expect a similar length here, though we have not seen this confirmed for Harrogate.

For visitors

This is a public ticketed evening, not a trade event. Tickets cost £32 to £87. The top price is for a box seating two, and boxes may have a restricted view. The recommended age is 14+, and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Harrogate Theatre runs the box office for the Royal Hall. Its page says wheelchair and companion bookings need to be made by phone on 01423 502116. Check the booking page for details of any captioned, audio described or BSL interpreted performances, as none is confirmed for this date.

Getting there

Book early

Many of Patrick Grant's dates around the country have already sold out, including several in March 2027. If you want a particular seat, or a weekday evening in Harrogate with a room nearby, it is worth booking both well ahead.

After the show

A 7.30pm start means a late finish, so it helps to book dinner before or after. Harrogate has plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the Royal Hall. If you are staying over, the Turkish Baths are a relaxed way to spend the next morning before your journey home.
