What it is and who goes

Phantoms of the Popera is a concert of musical theatre songs performed by G4, the four-man vocal group who came second in the first series of The X Factor in 2004. The line-up for this tour is Jonathan Ansell, Mike Christie, Duncan Sandilands and Michael Conway. The programme draws on shows including Les Mis, Phantom, Wicked, Hamilton, Jersey Boys, The Lion King and Rocky Horror Show. It is a public concert, listed as suitable for all, with under 16s required to come with an adult.

Dates and times

The Harrogate date is a single night: Wednesday 31 March 2027 at the Royal Hall, with the show starting at 7.30pm. A pre-show Meet & Greet starts at 6pm and includes a piece of exclusive merchandise. Harrogate Theatre lists the top-price tickets as including the meet and greet. G4's own tour page describes it as a VIP ticket option. Tickets cost £28 to £81.

For visitors

Harrogate Theatre is the local promoter and handles ticket sales. You can book through its website, by phone on 01423 502116 or by email to boxoffice@harrogatetheatre.co.uk. The box office is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. For wheelchair and companion bookings, call the box office directly. The Royal Hall and Harrogate Convention Centre take card and contactless payments only, so there is no need to bring cash.

Getting there

The Royal Hall sits next to Harrogate Convention Centre. The railway station is about a 10-minute walk away. LNER runs direct trains to London King's Cross roughly hourly, and Leeds is about 35 minutes by train. Leeds Bradford Airport is about 30 minutes away by taxi. Our apartments and townhouses are in central Harrogate, many within a short walk of the Royal Hall. That means no driving or parking after an evening show.

Booking early

The organisers say the 2025 and 2026 runs of this tour sold out, and the Royal Hall is not a huge room. If you want a particular seat, or the meet and greet, book sooner rather than later. If you are travelling from further afield, sort your accommodation at the same time as your tickets. A Wednesday night in spring can still be busy in the town centre.

After the show

Harrogate has plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the Royal Hall, so you can eat before the 7.30pm start or afterwards. Several bars around the town centre stay open late. If you are staying overnight, the Turkish Baths on Parliament Street make a relaxed start to the next morning. If you would like a base for the night, Short Stay Harrogate has apartments and townhouses that suit couples, friends travelling together and small groups.
