What the evening is

An Evening with Nigel Owens MBE is a one-man talk at the Royal Hall in Harrogate. Nigel Owens is a Welsh former international rugby union referee who retired in 2020. He is known for his dry humour on the pitch, and for being the only referee appointed to three consecutive Heineken Cup finals. He tells stories from on and off the field. The second half of the evening is a live Q&A where the audience can ask him anything, off the record. It is a public ticketed show, and the venue describes it as suited to sports fans.

Date and times

The show is on Thursday 11 February 2027 and starts at 7.30pm. Harrogate Theatre lists a running time of 110 minutes. It has not published a doors time, so check your ticket confirmation nearer the date. Harrogate Theatre promotes the event, and the Royal Hall is run as part of Harrogate Convention Centre.

Tickets and who can go

Tickets cost from £32.50 to £65.00. The top price is for a box that seats two. The next price up is VIP seating in the best seats in the house, which includes a meet and greet and a photo with Nigel. The show is suitable for ages 14 and over, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. You can book through Harrogate Theatre's website. The box office on 01423 502116 is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Wheelchair and companion bookings need to be made by phone. The Royal Hall and Convention Centre take card and contactless payments only, so there is no need to bring cash.

Getting there

Harrogate station is about a 10-minute walk from the Convention Centre. LNER runs direct trains to London King's Cross roughly hourly, and Leeds is about 35 minutes away by train. Leeds Bradford Airport is about 30 minutes by taxi. The Convention Centre says there are over 1,200 parking spaces in the town centre. In February it is worth allowing extra time if you are driving to an evening show.

Book early

Nigel Owens has played to sell-out audiences on other dates of this tour. If you want VIP seats or a box, buy early. Harrogate also has other Royal Hall events that month, so rooms can be harder to find on busy weekends. Thursday 11 February is a midweek date, so it suits a one-night stay or a long weekend that includes Friday.

Staying with us

Short Stay Harrogate is a local family-run company. We have serviced apartments and townhouses in central Harrogate, many a short walk from the Convention Centre and the Royal Hall. An apartment gives you space to meet friends before the show, and a kitchen if you would rather not eat out on both nights. You can walk back after the Q&A, so there is no need for a taxi or a designated driver.

After the show

The town centre has plenty of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the Royal Hall. If you are staying the night, the Turkish Baths on Parliament Street are a good way to start the next morning. Do check their opening times and booking rules before you go.
